This project was developed during the pandemic as a response to physical separation and the loss of shared, everyday experiences. Rooted in my long-standing curiosity about domestic spaces (specifically bathrooms as quietly intimate, unguarded environments)
I approached the project with a clear conceptual brief: to explore how personal spaces can serve as portraits of friends and strangers.
Unable to access these environments firsthand during lockdown, I conducted informal research by inviting friends and strangers to share photographs of small corners of their homes. I analyzed the photos for spatial cues, objects, and patterns.
Through illustration and restrained detail, I aimed to capture imagined moments of presence and routine as a way of expressing empathy during a time of collective isolation.
